I had the same problem and fixed it with your simple remedy of changing to another usb drive, in hindsight I should have tried that first but thanks to you for Ccleaner This can usually be done by visiting the manufacturer's website, looking up the returns/warranty section, and entering the serial number of the drive. This is extremely frustrating and annoying the crap outta me. And that's why it's also insecure.

You can manually check for a bad sector by right-clicking the drive in My Computer. can't suggest to use password for system. When I try to move my files from c it tells me it is in use and cannot be moved. I've tried to edit the BIOS so my PC runs from the CD first thinking that disc 1 of XP Pro may act as a boot but it just boots up Is your comp's cpu cooling fine? It just starts automatically.
You dont want to stress the drive if it is about to give up - If it is already about to fail, every little access counts.
