Go to control panel, system, device manager, monitors, where you see your monitor right click and uninstall device. luckily I found this topic else I think It still be driving me crazy..Fact is I had to set KMD_EnableBrightnessInterface as 0 to show the screen up with 'some' brightness, with Display Function Key maybe we have another way?

actually, I'm just a 16 year old kid. I'm not computer savvy ... I didn't do the shining the light test but I assumed it was the back light. This is terrible advice.
