Amazon does actually say this in the terms of service for the new Cloud Drive in section 3.2 3.2 Usage Restrictions and Limits. Admins, having no alternative recourse, actually encouraged this practice. Calling rsync (or other traditional folder sync solutions) "officially supported" might be a stretch. That doesn't work with NAS. I have not uploaded much to them so I have not hit a slowdown yet.

I have Seagate NAS 110. Network drives are perfectly safe to map as drives. Truly the last time they will see any of my $. If the network share is using UNC however and not a drive letter, then these viruses do not infect the share.
