The only time you need the pagefile to be at least the same size as your physical memory is if you want a full memory dump on STOP. If you made a ramdisk and sent the pagefile there, then you'd be basically taking a big chunk out of your ram, dedicating it as a ramdisk, then using it as I was running Windows 7 and Ubuntu on it, dual boot, with the Windows page file on the SSD. Now even a SSD is much more slower compared to DDR3.
